Life 

               Sowmya was born in a very kanarese speaking family to veteran singer b. k. sumitra and sudhakar in Bangalore , Karnataka , india. sowmya contains a brother named sunil rao , world health organization is associate in nursing actor within the kanarese industry. her mother was well-liked playback and pious singer in kanarese. as a baby, sowmya would accompany her mother to the studios for recording. she then slowly graduated to become a baby singer. sowmya's father worked in bank of india. 

                  Sowmya started singing at the age of seven. she had took an occasion from from singing whereas she was in classas she thought that might have an effect on her studies. once a amount of 5 to 6 years, she step by step turned her attention towards singing by learning carnatic music. but, she over up changing into a voice actor before venturing into films. she claims that, "i needed to coach for singing for heroines, not children".

Musical Career

              Sowmya started her career as a singer in south indian films in 1993, and got a possibility in film industry 9 years later. her major breakthrough happened once musician sandeep chowta was searching for a singer un agency maysing well in hindi. he selected sowmya for a song ("greekuveerudu") within the telugu film ninne pelladata. the song gave her a way required breakthrough. she went on to record the song within the tamil and hindi versions too.

              Sowmya started her career in film industry in 2000. her 1st assignment was for the song "soul of jungle", followed by a background track for the film pyaar tune kya kiya. company was her 1st as a singer in hindi. by now she additionally herbaceous plant for different hindi films like dum and bunty aur babli.

           Having worked with composers like ilaiyaraaja and a. r. rahman , she recorded over two hundred songs in tamil , telugu and Kannada , as of 2006.
