Pankaj Mullick
Hindi , Urdu , BengaliPankaj Mullick, conjointly referred to as Pankaj Kumar Mullick(Pôngkoj Kumar Mollik) ten May 1905 - 19 Feb 1978) was a Bengali Indian musician, WHO was a pioneer of film music in Bengali cinema and Hindi cinema at the appearance of playback singing, moreover as AN early exponent of Rabindra Sangeet.
He was awarded the Padma Shri in 1970, followed by the Dadasaheb Phalke Award (India's highest award in cinema, given by the govt. of India) in 1972 for time period contribution to Indian cinema.
Life
He was born in urban center in 1905, to Monimohan Mullick and Monomohini. His father had a deep interest in ancient Bengali music. He started his early coaching in Indian musical style beneath the tutelage of Durgadas Bandopadhaya. He studied at the Scottish Church school of the University of city. a very important turning purpose in his life came once, when finishing his studies, he came in reality with Dinendranath Tagore, UN agency was Rabindranath Tagore's nephew. He started his career with the Indian Broadcasting Corporation in Calautta in 1927, the forerunner of All India Radio (AIR), in conjunction with musician R. C. Boral, wherever he contributed as a musician and creator for nearly fifty years.
He contributed in numerous capacities to Bengali, Hindi, Urdu and Tamil language films for thirty eight years, beginning in 1931. He worked as musician to artists like K.L. Saigal, S.D. Burman, Hemanta Mukherjee, Geeta Dutt and Asha Bhosle. He acted with far-famed film actors like K L Saigal, P.C. Barua and Kanan Devi. in conjunction with Nitin nuclear physicist and R.C. Boral, Mullick introduced playback singing in Indian cinema.
He worked with one among the first film studios, New Theatres metropolis for twenty five years.
