               Sishtla sreeramamurthy janaki (born apr twenty three, 1938), ordinarily referred to as s. janaki, is associate indian playback singer. illustrious for her voice modulation skills, she has sung in several indian languages, most often in telugu, kannada, malayalam, tamil, and hindi.

               Throughout a career spanning quite 5 decades, she has recorded over 20,000 songs, won four national film awards and thirty one completely different state film awards. her association with singer s. p. balasubramanyam and musician ilaiyaraaja is among the foremost in style musical mixtures in south india. she is lovingly higher called, "the nightingale of the south". she could be a recipient of associate degree unearned doctorate and therefore the kalaimamani award from province regime. 

             In 2013, the govt. of india declared the padma bhushan award for her, at the age of seventy four. the singer refused to just accept the award, as a result of it came too late and since south indian artists weren't given their due recognition. she is honored by those folks, who wish to hear her voice, instead.

Life


             S. janaki was born in a very telugu speaking brahmin family in pallapatla, repalle village, in guntur, (present day andhra pradesh).her father sishtla sreeramamurthy was an educator associated an written material doctor. her father worked in sircilla in karimnagar district. she was fascinated by music from early age and began functioning at the age of 3. she learned music from sree paidiswamy, a nadaswaram vidwan for less than one year. she additionally learned few songs from varanasi balaramayya in kovvur. she was impressed from film music and accustomed render songs of lata mangeshkar, p. leela, jikki and p. susheela on stage before coming into films.
