             Shantha p. nair (5 september 1929 – twenty six gregorian calendar month 2008) was a playback singer in malayalam cinema. she was based mostly in thrissur, kerala.

Life

                Born into the illustrious ambady family in thrissur, joined of the 5 youngsters of vasudeva poduval and lakshmi, santha poduval showed her potential at a awfully young age.she got her education from queen mary's school, chennai. 

                 She was married to author late padmanabhan nair. she died on 2008 at the age of seventy nine, she is survived by her female off spring. she got a chance to sing vande mataram before pandit national leader for a happening.

Singing Career
  
                     She was operating all told bharat radio in kozhikode before getting into playback singing. she entered Malayalam films business through thiramala in (1953),her 1st song 'ammathan thankakudame' (by musician vimal kumar) was a lullaby. she herb in lots of Malayalam films from 1951 to 1967 and immortalised several songs together with 'unarunaroo unikkanna', 'kadavathu thoniyaduthappol', 'poove nalla poof,' `kuruvikalai uyaraam' and 'kadavathu thoni aduthapol' together with her musical voice. she was equally skilful in carnatic music and command several concerts, that she wont to finish with lightweight music. and once within the absence of salil chowdhury, she composed a tune for ramu kariat. salilda once hearing it insisted that it's maintained while not changes within the final unharness. the song was makkathu dish varum maanathe. she additionally did the chorus for salilda later within the chemmeen songs.her last song was in 1961 for v chidambaranath’s film murapennu kadavathu thoni aduthapol along side s. janaki. shanta nair won the sangeet natak accolade in1987.
