                Porayathu leela (1934–2005), higher called p. leela , was a preferred indian playback singer. she was awarded padma bhushan posthumously in 2006.

Life

              Porayathu leela was born in 1934, in chittur, palakkad, kerala to v.k. kunjanmenon and porayath meenakshi amma. she was the youngest of the 3 daughters- sharadha, bhanumathi and leela. v k kunjanmenon was operating as an instructor in ramavarma higher gymnasium at ernakulam. v.k.menon was obsessed on music “we were 3 women in our family and that i was the youngest. my father needed u.s. to find out carnatic music and every one 3 people wont to sing well, my father was entirely chargeable for creating me a singer." aforesaid leela.

                  Starting at the age of thirteen, she has sung regarding 5000 film songs all told the south indian languages tamil, telugu, malayalam and south dravidian. she additionally panax quinquefolius in one bengali film and in sinhala movies. her songs square measure notable for his or her emotional bit and classical discipline.                P. leela had several relatives. her relation porayathu vimala, p. vimala's son p. ravi kumar and grandchildren, roshan ravi kumar, rashmi ravi kumar and rhea ravi kumar were the nearest among them. p. leela died on thirty one october 2005, monday,at 3:40 am at sri ramachandra medical centre in urban center.
