           Rupam Islam (born twenty five Jan 1974) may be a playback singer, song author, musician and therefore the lead singer of the band Fossils. he's a recipient of National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer. He won the award in 2010, for his add the film Mahanagar @ urban center. Rupam has been chosen to be a member of the govt of West Bengal's cultural committee for music (Bangla Sangeet Academy).

                       He belongs to a Bengali family. 

Life

                       Born on twenty five Jan 1974 in a very family of musicians, Rupam’s musical journey started fairly early beneath the tutelage of his oldsters, famed musicians of their time: late Nurul Islam and late Chhandita Islam. By the age of four, he was engaged on stage along with his parents' choir cluster Jhankar Shilpi Goshthhi. By 9, he was associate degree empanelled kid performing artist of Aakashvani and Doordarshan and had performed in the slightest degree leading auditoriums of Calcutta.

          Education went hand-in-hand with music, and he graduated from Asutosh faculty, AN connected faculty of the University of city with honors in English literature. He completed his Bachelor’s in Education (B.Ed) and joined Taki Boys Mulitipurpose college wherever he educated English to Primary school students for eleven years before voluntarily retiring in 2006 to focus on his career in music.

           Rupam is married to his long-time friend Rupsha Dasgupta. On twelve Sept 2010 they became oldsters of a baby boy, Rup Aarohan Prometheus. Rupam is Associate in Nursing Atheist. 

Career

                 In 1998, his band Fossils was born. inside the primary 5 years, that they had become one among the foremost well-liked Bangla Rock bands. As writer, music musician and lead player, Rupam came to be known because the face of the band. Fossils has had 5 super-hit albums, every of that has created one record or the opposite within the chartbusters.

          After coaching in Indian music genre, Rupam’s 1st solo album Tor Bhorshate was free by HMV in 1998. The album was re-releaased as Neel Rong Chhilo Bhishon Priyo in 2003 and, on well-liked demand, was once more re-released in CD format by SaReGaMa 10 years once 1st striking the market.

            In 2010, Rupam free his second solo album referred to as sodium Hayante from SaReGaMa. It won him awards in Calcutta and also the album was amongst the foremost sold albums of the year.

           In 2011, Rupam free his third solo album referred to as Nishkromon from SaReGaMa. It became a large hit even before the discharge. during this album he has been related to several alternative Bangla Rock bands' members. All the songs has been recorded board the album.
